  1. GOALS OF THE GODS - A black ink and gray pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size vellum paper. It appeared in Dragon Magazine, published by TSR, the Dungeons & Dragons company.

Back in 1978 I received a phone call from Peggy Cooper, who introduced herself to me as being an editor at TSR. She went on to say that she saw my artwork in Galaxy magazine, liked it, and called to ask if I had time to do some black and white drawings for her.

At that time the highest payment I had received for a full page b&w drawing was $35, from Galaxy magazine. I asked Miss Cooper how much she was paying for a full page drawing and when she told me "$200" my eyes popped wide open and my ears got red hot! And when I asked her how many drawings were involved, she began listing the quarter pagers, half pagers, and full pagers that she needed for something called , "The Gazetteer," and the total came to $2,300!

Unbelievable! I had hit the jackpot! And until the day I retired in 1992, Peggy kept sending me assignments, one after another. I met her and her husband when they were travelling from the west coast to attend a convention in NY City, and stopped by to say hello.

Peggy Cooper helped my career immensely. I hope she comes across my website and reads this. Thank you Peggy!
